Tuesday 4-24-2012 Run Before Work by addickens at Garmin Connect - Details

With the arrival of a cold front in SW Florida we were actually able to sleep with the windows open last night.  When I headed out this morning with a headlamp on shortly after 6 AM it was still in the low 60's.  I wish it had been long run day but I only had time for a couple miles. This was my little 2 mile neighborhood route that I took nice and easy.

Racing this past weekend was Shoeless Sonny from Carmel, IN in the Carmel Championship Weekend half marathon. Sonny donned a pair of New Balance Minimus shoes in size 14 4E and ran a blistering 2:18:02 over the 13.1 mile course. Now really, can a shoe in size 14 4E really be called minimalist?

In other racing news, Speedster Chuck of Pompano Beach, FL headed to Marathon, FL for the 31st annual 7 mile bridge run. Chuck told me that thanks to his recent birthday he was now in a new age group and would be competing against a bunch of old guys. Chuck was lined up waiting for the 7:30 AM gun .....7:31......7:32..... and the race was cancelled due to heavy storms including lightning in the area. Apparently, the weather was to bad for the race but not the after party because I'm told that everyone just went straight to the beer tent. At 7:30 AM ???

In the following picture, Speedster Chuck is shown with Monte Stickel, Marlene Persson (women’s winner), and Andrew Greenidge to his right who have all won the 7 mile bridge run and Joe Monks on the left who has won the masters and grand masters divisions in the past.

For the rest of this week, I plan a bike to work round trip tomorrow, a short run before work on Friday and then a cross country run at Celery Fields on Saturday morning.
